Lifeguard Training focuses on teaching participants the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to emergency situations. Lifeguard training utilizes techniques used to respond in aquatic emergencies which may require the use of CPR/AED and or First Aid skills for the Professional Rescuer. The focus of this course is to provide structured lifesaving skills within an aquatic environment.
Course length:
28 hours. This course is usually broken down into 3 - 6 class sessions depending on course setup.
Course Materials:
Each student will receive a copy of the training manual and cpr resuscitation mask.
Prerequisites
Participants must be at least 15 years old prior to the courses' completion. All participants must successfully pass a pre-course skills evaluation that requires participants to:
1. Swim 300 yards continuously, using rhythmic breathing
a. 100 yards completed using the front crawl stroke.
b. 100 yards completed of breaststroke, a stroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide pattern.
c. 100 yards completed using the front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of both.
2. Participants must tread water for 2 minutes.
a. Participants must place their hands under the armpits or above the water for the entire duration of the
skills test.
b. The participants' head/face must remain above the water during the entire duration of the skills test.
3. Deep end Brick Retrieval
a. Each participant must start within the water and swim 20 yards.
b. The participant must surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object/brick and return to the surface.
c. The participant must swim 20 yards on the their back, towards the original starting point, while
holding the object/brick with 2 hands the entire distance back.
d. The participant must place the object/brick outside of the water and exit the water without using the
the steps or a ladder.
e. Each participant must complete this skills test within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
From assessing needs and making decisions to providing care, This course is a professional-level certification program teaches the skills required for your profession through dialogues, videos, and hands-on training based on real-life rescue scenarios. This course covers adults, children and infants.

From 2 to 4 hours. depending on course option.

The blended learning skill session is designed to provide First-Aid, Cpr & AED training through online and live training programs. This course allows participants to complete a series of online missions that are designed to educate participants how to respond to emergency situations. Participants will also demonstrate the correct methods of responding to emergencies. The course is broken down into two session: online training session followed by a in-person training session.
Part 1 - Online Skills Training
Participants must use the blended learning link and complete the Red Cross Online Skills Training. Once each participant has successfully completed the Online Skills Training, a certification of completion for the online portion will be issued.
Part 2 - In Person Training
Participants must register for the in-person skills training within the required time frame to obtain a certification. Participants must provide proof of Online completion prior to beginning the In-Person Training.

Online Session: 2.5 Hours
In-Person Session: 1-2 Hours
